Sifu Leung

About Sifu Leung Yuk Sing

Sifu Leung Yuk Sing came to Sydney in 1988 at 36 years of age from Guangzhou, China and was trained in both Pak Mei and traditional Chinese medicine. He came from a family of martial artists, and lived through the times of great change in mainland China when martial arts was still considered one of the forbidden “old ways” through to its acceptance.

Sifu became a student of Leung Siu Hoi (no relation) during the height of the cultural revolution. It was during these tough times that he was given one-to-one tuition by Leung Siu Hoi and formed a bond akin to father and son.

The training was arduous, but with dedication and a natural ability in martial arts, he was able to achieve a very high level of skill over the years. Sifu was highly praised by his teacher and was recognised as the heir to the school. In his youth, Sifu and his fellow kung fu brothers would test their skills in the backstreets of Liwan District, Guangzhou. He soon realised the formidable nature of Pak Mei in application and his band of brothers developed a reputation to not to be taken lightly.

Sifu came to Australia after the passing of Sigung Leung Siu Hoi and has been teaching since his arrival. He strictly adheres to the style and training methods that were taught to him - No modifications for sporting applications and no changes to the “kuen faat” (拳法 / fist patterns) lest the essence of the style be diluted.

Sifu is warm and humorous, full of jest. Those of us lucky enough to spend private time with him will have felt his love for family; both his own and the kung fu family that has formed around him. He protects both earnestly and promotes harmony amongst all members.
